Long-Term Supports and Services for Persons with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities: Status and Trends 2021

New

Description

Nearly two-thirds of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) who receive paid services live at home with family members or in their own homes, this report from the Residential Information Systems Project (RISP) shows. This is a major shift from when people with IDD could only get services in institutions just a few decades ago. The new report includes data through the end of June 2021. There was an increase in the death rate among people with IDD, especially in institutions, during the first full year of the COVID-19 pandemic. This report is important for researchers, policymakers, advocates, and reporters to understand services for people with IDD. The survey instrument and the user guide used are available.
