National Center for College Students with Disabilities (NCCSD)
Description
ICI has joined with the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) and a number of other partners to oversee and expand the National Center for College Students with Disabilities (NCCSD). The consortium serves a variety of stakeholders, including college and transition-age students with disabilities, families, faculty and staff at institutions of higher education, other secondary programs, and transition programs of local education agencies. The NCCSD serves a variety of functions. These include: creating educational modules for faculty and staff at institutions of higher education and educators working in transition programs; maintaining and expanding the National Center for College Students with Disabilities Resource Clearinghouse as well as the Campus Disability Resource (CeDaR) Databases which include resources and disability-related information from degree-granting colleges and universities across the United States; and supporting the Disability Rights, Education Activism, and Mentoring program (DREAM) run by and for students with disabilities. The NCCSD also provides technical assistance related to accommodations, planning, and evaluation to support young adults with disabilities, their families, and staff at the post-secondary and transition level; it also evaluates the outcomes of these efforts.
