Georgia launched three yearlong pilot programs in January 2024 to support direct support professionals (DSPs) in earning competency-based certifications at no cost. Each pilot offered about 50 hours of online training and an assessment leading to a DSP-I or higher credential, along with a one-time bonus for those who completed it. Aiming to support 200 DSPs per pilot by 2025, the programs were extended to expand their impact. The pathways included Georgia's Department of Labor Certified DSP Apprenticeship, the NADSP E‑Badge Academy, and the DSP TAP program at the University of Georgia. ICI's external evaluation showed impressive results, strengthening career pathways and professional recognition for Georgia’s DSP workforce.
