Description
Family members play essential roles in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including providing medical, emotional, financial, and day-to-day support. Family members who are the primary providers of support often have to make choices related to employment that can affect their long-term financial well-being, including leaving the workforce altogether. This Policy Research Brief recommends a number of government policy programs, policy changes, and employer-provided benefits.
