Description

A brief summarizing findings from the National Health Interview Survey Disability Supplement conducted by the U.S. Bureau of the Census, National Center on Health Statistics in 1994 and 1995. It examines characteristics and outcomes for family members, ages 55 and older, who shared households with persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (ID/DD) or functional limitations only (FL Only). This brief estimates the population of aging caregivers and presents logistic regressions examining the factors that influence selected outcomes for those caregivers (poor health status and poor mental health status).
