MIHEC Learning Community Webinars: Parent Perspectives of Inclusive Higher Education

New

Description

Intended for families, educators, administrators, and community partners, this session uses a panel discussion format to explore family experiences in inclusive higher education. The panelists represent different stages of the college journey for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Two panelists are parents of college students with IDD currently enrolled in inclusive postsecondary education programs, and two panelists are parents of graduates of those programs. Together, the parents share candid reflections on decision-making, access and inclusion, campus supports, challenges, and the impact of inclusive higher education on their child’s academic, social, and post-college outcomes.

This session offers a valuable opportunity to hear directly from families about what meaningful inclusion looks like from their perspective and how institutions can partner more effectively with students and families to support successful college experiences. Viewers receive practical insights to inform program design, policy, and practice across the continuum of inclusive higher education.
