FYI from the Institute on Community Integration: March 2021

Description

FYI Monthly is a monthly e-communication from the Institute on Community Integration. The March 2021 issue includes four feature stories, an ICI Facebook post, new publications, staff updates, and an alumni update.

The first feature story, “Shaping Justice: ICI’s Self-Advocate Advisory Committee," tells how self-advocates on the committee help shape a new self-advocacy website and other communications for and about them. The second feature, "Research Day Features ICI Autism Work," describes ICI's contribution to this annual event. The third feature, "Elevating Positive Behavior Support and Strategies," shows ICI's leadership in this research-based approach for increasing quality of life while decreasing interfering behavior. The last feature, "LEND an Ear: On-Demand Disability Training," tells how MNLEND fellows are contributing to a podcast series that delivers on-the-go training and insight to child welfare workers. Finally, this month's Alumni Update is Mia Donley (MN-LEND, 2015–16), who was part of a small team of Colorado state officials who promptly designed  and implemented an Pandemic-EBT benefits program for families of school-aged children who were not able to receive free or reduced-price lunches due to school closures.
