FYI from the Institute on Community Integration: November 2021

Description

FYI  is a monthly e-communication from the Institute on Community Integration. The November 2021 issue includes four feature stories, an ICI Facebook post, new publications, staff updates, and an alumni update.

The first story features the results of a survey, conducted by ICI and Independent Support Services, Inc., of 413 people who provide unpaid support to a person with disabilities who directs his or her public services. The second article features Direct Support Workforce Solutions, a new ICI offering that will combine organizational analysis and in-depth training for direct support professionals into a comprehensive strategy to help organizations recruit, train, and keep their best staff. The third story is about entrance, ICI's current Art for All exhibit. The last article is about a new guide from ICI's TIES Center that shows schools how to create a culture of belonging, including for students with significant cognitive disabilities. This month's Alumni Update features Deeqaifrah Hussein (MNLEND, 2017–18), the interim executive director of special education and health services for Minneapolis Public Schools.
