FYI from the Institute on Community Integration: February 2021

Description

FYI Monthly is a monthly e-communication from the Institute on Community Integration. The February 2021 issue includes five feature stories, an ICI Facebook post, new publications, staff updates, and an alumni update.

The first feature story, “Human rights depend on democracy: Protect it,” is an opinion piece by ICI Director Amy Hewitt that was first published in MinnPost on January 21, 2021. The second story explains how the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are using residential housing data that ICI collects to reduce the percentage of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in congregate settings. The third story is about researcher Julie Bershadsky joining ICI to lead its Community Living and Employment area and co-direct the Research and Training Center on Community Living. The fourth story discusses ICI's upcoming Dignity of Work online international forum. The fifth story introduces the fully digital version of ICI's Expanding the Circle curriculum. Finally, this month's Alumni Update is Alice Kraiza (MN-LEND, 2017–18), who is bringing trauma-informed care to children.
