The website of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University highlighted the two scholars from that institution in Ukraine who completed ADA Fellowships at ICI. Sergiy Sydoriv and Vira Velykoroda were among the seven Ukrainians who participated in ICI’s 2016 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Anniversary Program, an exchange that is creating an international community of learning based on inclusive education, disability advocacy and policy, and community inclusion. They were among the 20 Fellows from Ukraine, India, Kazakhstan, and Armenia that ICI hosted for six weeks, beginning in late April 2017. The Fellows have returned home and are implementing inclusion plans called grand challenges to help ensure the rights of people with disabilities in their countries, influenced by what they learned in Minnesota. They will be joined by their 16 mentors from Minnesota who will travel to the Fellows’ respective countries for two weeks. The mentors will arrive to follow-up on each country’s grand challenge, conduct workshops on inclusive education, disability policy and advocacy, and provide technical assistance.
