History Book Published About Special Education in Minnesota
Special Education Administration: How it Evolved in Minnesota is a new book written by consultant to ICI, Norena Hale, and now available on Amazon.com. The book was sponsored by the Minnesota Special Education Leaders Foundation with additional support through a grant that ICI helped secure through the Minnesota Historical Society from the Minnesota Arts Cultural Heritage Fund. The book describes special education evolved in Minnesota from the 1840s to the current time. It explores how the history of general and special education administration developed along two separate paths until joining into one education system in the 1960s. It summarizes this history with timelines, charts and numerous historic photographs. ICI’s Mike Sharpe was the technical adviser and graphic design is by ICI’s Connie Burkhart.
