The Institute’s Research and Training Center on Community Living (RTC) is co-sponsoring the Reinventing Quality conference, which this year will be held in Baltimore, July 31-August 2. Reinventing Quality is a biennial conference on person-centered supports and this year’s event marks its 25th anniversary. Conference organizers anticipate approximately 700 attendees next month and this year’s conference addresses a persistent challenge: bringing best practices “to scale.”

“We know how to support people in having competitive jobs, fully self-determined lives, community-belonging and membership, and many other best practices. Yet, the best person-centered supports are often only in unique and specialized projects or areas. The practices we know how to do have not been brought to scale and have not become the pervasive, systematic way we do things,” says Angela Amado, who manages RTC’s involvement in the conference. “This year, Reinventing Quality will examine how to make those best practices ‘the way we do business’,” she adds.
