A column in the March 17 Pioneer Press focusing on strategies for keeping high school and college students engaged with learning includes a mention of ICI’s Check & Connect as a “mentoring program… [that] helps connect young people with meaningful adults for support and guidance in school and in life.” The opinion piece was titled, “How to keep students engaged. And on course to graduate.” It was written by Robert Shumer, a research fellow with Clemson University and the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network. He was also director of the National Service-Learning Clearinghouse at the University of Minnesota.
