After 20 years at the helm of ICI, David R. Johnson will step down as Director in September 2018. Far from slowing down, he will transition to full-time faculty within the University of Minnesota's Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development (OLPD),  where he currently holds a 50 percent appointment. "I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Director for the past 20 years," Johnson said in an internal announcement to his staff. "It has been my privilege to be a part of this organization and you should all be proud of what we have accomplished, and will continue to accomplish." Over the next year, the Dean's Office at the University's College of Education and Human Development will conduct a national search. More information about the search process will be shared as available.

Johnson's mark in the field of disability services will be lasting. He has been with ICI since its inception in 1985, an authority in research areas including post-school outcomes, school completion, state systems change, cost-benefit analysis, and other policy related research. Johnson has published more than 100 book chapters, journal articles, research monographs, technical reports, and products on several of the above-mentioned topics and more. We thank him for his leadership and will forever be indebted to him for his contributions and tireless commitment to people with disabilities and their families.
