Education Week Features NCEO Report on English-Learners with Disabilities
Education Week featured NCEO Report 410: Guidance Manuals for Educators of English Learners with Disabilities: Ideas and Lessons from the Field in a blog post titled, "Evaluating English-Learners for Special Education is a Challenge: Here's Help." The post explains that schools often have trouble identifying English-language learners with learning disabilities, but despite federal recommendations, only nine states have publicly available manuals to help educators diagnose and support the students. The report from ICI's National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO) contains tips from the state manuals on how to train teachers and avoid implementation delays.
