Charting the LifeCourse was developed by parents as a way to support the people they love to live a good life. Charting the LifeCourse has tools that can help you and your child plan, communicate, and problem-solve about things that are important to them.
Charting the LifeCourse Workshops
Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) is a framework that can help people explore, plan, and share their vision of a good life with others. These free workshops are designed for families, educators, and anyone who is interested in learning about the Charting the LifeCourse framework and tools. Each workshop offers practical strategies, tools, and real-life examples to help center the voices, goals, and dreams of people with disabilities as they plan for school, life, and decision-making.
Helping Students Thrive: Using the Charting the LifeCourse Framework in Schools
This workshop is for families and teachers who want to work together to support students. You’ll learn how to use Charting the LifeCourse tools to focus on what’s important to each student—their needs, goals, and dreams—and how to plan for school and life with them at the center.

Using Charting the LifeCourse in Supported Decision Making
Everyone should be able to make their own choices, with help if they want and need it. This workshop will talk about Supported Decision-Making—what it means and how it works. We’ll also learn about easy tools from Charting the LifeCourse that help people think about their goals and who can support them.

Charting the LifeCourse Fundamentals
Charting the LifeCourse Fundamentals is a transformative training program designed to empower professionals and organizations through person-centered thinking. Using interactive learning and personal application, participants gain new perspectives, innovative problem-solving strategies, and tools to achieve a "good life." No matter who you support or their life stage, this course equips you with the foundational knowledge and skills to drive real, impactful change.
Prerequisites
This series is for families and professionals who live or work in Minnesota. It is recommended to view this free Intro to Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) before the training.
Completion & Certification:
Upon successfully meeting all requirements, including attending all modules and completing pre-/post-learning surveys, a Certificate of Completion is awarded.
Minnesota LifeCourse in Action Sessions
Minnesota’s LifeCourse in Action Group was developed to support the use of the Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) framework across the state. Charting the LifeCourse in Action events are interactive sessions for hands-on learning, testing ideas, and exploring strategies for using the framework. Participants can collaborate with others who are applying it in different ways. It's recommended that attendees have a basic understanding of the CtLC framework and are beginning to use its tools. They are encouraged to share their experiences or bring challenging case studies to discuss.

Are there interpreters at the sessions?
ASL interpreters can be arranged if requested when you register. CART is available for online sessions if requested. We require a two-week advance notice to arrange for ASL interpreters or CART.
