Charting the Lifecourse was developed by parents as a way to support the people they love to live a good life. Charting the Lifecourse has tools that can help you and your child plan, communicate and problem-solve about things that are important to them.

Charting the LifeCourse Foundations Series

This 3-part series is for anyone wanting to know more about Charting the LifeCourse. Throughout the sessions, we will explore the principles of the Charting the LifeCourse Framework and tools. This series will introduce Charting the LifeCourse and how to apply the principles to exploring, planning, and sharing what you want for a good life. You will learn how the different skills work together to help with problem-solving. Finally, we will look at how to use Charting the LifeCourse across the lifespan to share your learning and vision for a good life.

Session 1: Principles of the Charting the LifeCourse Framework

This first session will provide an overview of the Charting the LifeCourse Framework Principles. You will learn how Charting the LifeCourse helps define a vision and build a path to get there. It will introduce how past, present, and future experiences affect our path. This session will be the foundation for the next two sessions.

Session 2: The Integrated Support Star and Problem-Solving

In this session, we will look at the integrated support star. You will learn how the support star can help you think through strengths and supports. The star can help minimize the barriers sometimes caused by the systems that provide support. You will also learn how to use the support star in problem-solving.

Session 3: Life Domains and The Trajectory

In this session, you will discover how all principles are connected and influence each other. You will learn how Charting the LifeCourse can help you have conversations about the different parts of life across the lifespan. Using Charting the LifeCourse to Communicate with Healthcare Providers

Description

Managing healthcare can be complicated. You may have to manage a lot of information and multiple providers. In this session we will talk about using Charting the LifeCourse tools to communicate with healthcare providers about your child’s needs and preferences.

Keeping the student at the center of the IEP and 504 process is critical. In this session we will explore different ways to use Charting the LifeCourse to ensure the student is the focus and keeps them headed toward what a good life looks like to them.

Do I get a certificate of attendance?

Certificates of attendance will be available for anyone who completes a training evaluation.

Are there interpreters at the sessions?

ASL interpreters can be arranged if requested when you register. CART is available for online sessions if requested. We do need two weeks advance notice to arrange for ASL interpreters or CART.
