FYI from the Institute on Community Integration: August 2019

Description

FYI Monthly is a monthly e-communication from the Institute on Community Integration. The August 2019 issue includes six feature stories, a leading ICI Facebook post from the past month, two new publications, coming events, and numerous staff updates.

This is the back-to-school issue, so most of the feature stories are about education and the accomplishments of various fellows that ICI has trained over the years. There are feature stories about (a) a MNLEND Fellow who is now a Special Education director at the Minneapolis Public Schools, (b) two Diversity Fellows who are helping to make religious schools more inclusive to students with disabilities, and (c) another group of Diversity Fellows who are building capacity among early childhood providers in Minnesota's Latino community. There are also feature stories about ICI assisting with self-determination for Wisconsin students with intellectual/developmental disabilities, surveying post-school outcomes for Indiana students with disabilities, and Check & Connect's student engagement plans in the upcoming school year.
