Nancy M Gonzalez

Nancy Gonzalez is a 2017-18 MNLEND Community Fellow and a 2017-18 AUCD Virtual Trainee Liaison. She is also a mother of a 23-year old young man with autism. Nancy and her son serve as self-advocates on the advisory board of the Minnesota-Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (MN-ADDM) Network. Nancy has worked as a paraprofessional for 5 years in various capacities in K-12 and transitional programming. Nancy Gonzalez holds a Master of Science in Management from Troy State University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations specializing in the area of Intercultural Communications from the University of Minnesota.
Nancy would like to use this LEND year to explore and expand her knowledge of ASD, neurodevelopmental disorders, policy and advocacy. Nancy is especially interested in working with underserved children with disabilities and their families that are Spanish speaking and Native American. In addition, Nancy's is working on the ASD Family Connect Project 2.0 that focuses on underserved families helping them to identify needs and reduce gaps in accessing services through cultural sensitive mapping.
