Derek is a Research Associate at ICI and the Associate Director of the NIDRR funded Research and Training Center on Community Living. There he oversees and directs a number of research and evaluation studies, demonstration projects, and systems change activities related to national and state disability services and supports. Derek's work is focused heavily in the areas employment services and supports, training and workforce interventions, and community capacity building to advance community living for people with disabilities. He has extensive experience managing and analyzing small and large datasets (over 200,000 cases) in his work. Derek also serves on a variety of state, regional, and national councils and coalitions. He on the national board of directors and is Vice President of the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE). Derek has authored numerous journal articles, technical, and interactive policy briefs related to research and disability services. He also regularly presents on disability services, supports, and research nationally. Derek earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development with a focus on Evaluation Studies and a minor and advanced training in quantitative methods.
