FYI from the Institute on Community Integration: November 2018

Description

FYI Monthly is a monthly e-communication from the Institute on Community Integration. The November 2018 edition includes five feature stories, a leading ICI Facebook post from the past month, two new journal articles authored or co-authored by Institute researchers, an upcoming webinar, and numerous staff updates.

Two of the feature stories are about awards: ICI's David R. Johnson receiving the George S. Jesien Distinguished Achievement Award at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) and Education for Every Child: Armenia's Path to Inclusion, a documentary film directed by ICI's Jerry Smith, receiving a Gold Award at the 2018 MarCom Awards. There are also features about a Massachusetts community remembering a fallen soldier by starting a Check & Connect program at his former school and ICI's Minnesota Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (MNLEND) program recruiting its next cohort of MNLEND Fellows for 2019-20. Finally, researchers Brian Abery and Renata Ticha of ICI's Global Resource Center on Inclusive Education traveled to Denmark and Ukraine in late October to continue their international work supporting research on, and implementation of, inclusive education practices.
