Early Childhood Services Program Area

logoNorth Central Regional Resource Center (NCRRC) (ICI Affiliated Center) assists state education agencies in the systemic improvement of education programs, practices, and policies that impact infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families. The Center is part of the Federal Resource Center network and serves the States of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Connecting the Dots Early Childhood Transition Training (an NCRRC project) is an online training program with both federal and state-specific information and resources to help early childhood transition personnel provide quality special education transition services for young children with disabilities and their families.

Center for Early Education and Human Development (CEED) (ICI Partner Center) conducts research, offers training services, and provides information regarding young children (birth to age eight), including children with special needs, in the areas of education, child care, child development, and family education.

Early Childhood Behavior Project (a CEED project) provides assistance to parents, regular and special education classrooms, Head Start programs, child care centers, and other community-based programs with regard to challenging behavior among young children.

Get It, Got It, Go! Tools For Improving Children's Developmental Outcomes (a CEED project) is a Web-based tool for early childhood practitioners and families to identify features of classroom and home settings they can change to improve children's developmental outcomes.

Culminated Projects in Early Childhood

Early Childhood Research Institute on Measuring Growth & Development (ICI Affiliated Center) produced a comprehensive, individualized measurement system for monitoring the growth and development of children with disabilities from birth to age eight, and linked this assessment information to a decision-making model for improving children’s outcomes.

School-Age Services Program Area

logoNational Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO) (ICI Affiliated Center) provides national leadership in the participation of students with disabilities in district, state, and national assessments; standards-setting efforts; and graduation requirements.

logoPartnership for Accessible Reading Assessment (ICI Affiliated Center) engages in research on and development of accessible reading assessments that provide a valid demonstration of reading proficiency for increasingly diverse populations of students in our public schools, and particularly for those students who have disabilities that affect reading.

logoResearch Institute on Progress Monitoring (ICI Affiliated Center) is developing a system of progress monitoring to evaluate effects of individualized instruction on access to and progress within the general education curriculum.

National Accessible Reading Assessment Projects (an NCEO affiliated project) conducts research to make large-scale assessments of reading proficiency more accessible for students who have disabilities that affect reading.

Beacons of Excellence: Achieving Exemplary Results for Students with Disabilities in Secondary Education studies factors that contribute to student success at secondary schools that obtain exemplary results for all students, including students with disabilities.

Check & Connect: A Model to Engage Students in School and Prevent Dropout provides information about current field studies to reduce dropout rates and increase school completion for youth with and without disabilities, in grades K-12 in urban and suburban communities.

Minnesota Paraprofessional Consortium consists of state agency representatives, educators, paraprofessionals, parents, and others whose purpose is to advise the Minnesota Department of Education regarding activities that prepare, support and recognize the paraprofessional workforce in Minnesota.

Minnesota Para eLink provides online training to Minnesota paraprofessionals in core and specialized competency areas established by the Consortium.

Yes I Can! Recreation and Social Inclusion Program develops and implements school-based social and recreational inclusion programs to enhance the community inclusion of students with disabilities.

Transition Program Area

logoNational Center on Secondary Education and Transition (NCSET) (ICI Affiliated Center) developed and continues to promote research-based secondary education and transition models that integrate academic, career development, work-based and community learning, and increasing school retention and completion rates.

Connecting to Success Electronic Mentoring Program (a NCSET affiliated project) is a model program using electronic mentoring to promote successful transition of youth with disabilities into adult life.

National Alliance for Secondary Education and Transition (a NCSET affiliated project) developed the national standards and quality indicators, a research-based tool to help school systems and communities identify what all youth need to succeed in postsecondary education, civic engagement, employment, and adult life.

Transition Solutions (a NCSET affiliated service) is a strategic alliance of the nation's top researchers and educators in the areas of secondary education and transition who provide fee-based consultation in the areas of resource mapping, interagency team development, and strategic planning.

Youthhood.org (a NCSET affiliated project) is an online, interactive, research-based, transition curriculum focused on preparing youth for life after high school, designed for students and their teachers, mentors, and parents.

Expanding the Circle: Transition Resources for American Indian Youth provides information regarding a culturally relevant curriculum and activities and programs to facilitate the successful transition from high school to postsecondary experiences for American Indian students.

Minnesota Service Inclusion Project provided assistance to families, individuals, community based organizations, and those supporting the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in service opportunities.

Adult Services & Community Living Program Area

Research and Training Center on Community Living (RTC) (ICI Affiliated Center) engages in research, training, and technical assistance on community living for persons with developmental disabilities, and maintains a national database on residential and related services. The RTC is part of a national network of Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers.

QualityMall.org (an RTC affiliated project) showcases promising practices and innovations that promote quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities.

Emergency Response Preparedness (an RTC affiliated project) is a web-based self-assessment instrument for state agency officials to evaluate the extent to which their existing preparedness plans are able to address the unique characteristics of individuals receiving support through publicly funded developmental disabilities programs.

Nature and Quality of Supports for Families in the Disability Supplement of the National Health Interview Survey (an RTC affiliated project) examines supports available to children ages 0-59 months, children ages 60 months to 17 years, and adults ages 18-39 and 40 and older with MR/DD in the 1994-1995 National Health Interview Survey/Disability Supplement sample.

LifePages.org (an RTC affiliated project) contains information about recreation and leisure activities and other resources designed to enhance recreation and leisure participation and social connections for Minnesotans with developmental disabilities.

College of Direct Support (an RTC affiliated project) is a computer-assisted, competency-based, interactive multimedia training curriculum for direct support professionals in community settings.

National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) is a coalition of organizations and individuals committed to strengthening the quality of human service support by strengthening the direct support workforce.
