FYI from the Institute on Community Integration: December 2021

Description

FYI is a monthly e-communication from the Institute on Community Integration. The December 2021 issue includes three feature stories, an ICI Facebook post, new publications, staff updates, and an alumni update.

The first story features the new issue of Impact, which is about aging, retirement, and end-of-life issues among people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The second story is about public service announcements that ICI and the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals made to encourage direct support staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The last article features a series of free, online training modules and tools for providers of home and community-based services to implement person-centered and positive support practices in service delivery; ICI produced these tools in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Human Services. This month's Alumni Update features Sally Sexton (MNLEND, 2020–21), who is developing a website with ICI staff and others to promote post-secondary education options for students with intellectual disabilities.
