Welcome

Welcome to the Minnesota Service Inclusion Project (MSIP). MSIP supports the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in national and community service opportunities. If you would like to promote inclusive service opportunities, be sure to visit our Posters and Postcards (see sample to right).

MSIP is a partnership between the University of Minnesota’s Institute on Community Integration, a University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, and the National Service Inclusion Project. MSIP promotes inclusive national and community service opportunities by providing information and assistance to those who support individuals with disabilities.

MSIP assists schools and other community organizations across the State of Minnesota with the following:

  • Identifying potential national and community service opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Minnesota.
  • Assisting with "making the connections" to participate fully and reduce barriers.
  • Educating service organizations in Minnesota about working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Identifying and reducing barriers to participation in community service by individuals with disabilities.
  • Providing information about accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill specific volunteer roles.
  • Networking with national and community partners across Minnesota to increase awareness regarding potential current and future opportunities.

MSIP collaborates with ServeMinnesota which is also the Minnesota Commission on National and Community Service. MSIP also promotes the benefits of service organizations including AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps*VISTA, and Senior Corps. See more about Collaboration with Other Organizations.

For more about MSIP, read the About MSIP page.
