Promoting Physical Activity and Nutrition Among Adults with IDD: Hennepin County

Conducts a needs assessment to learn how to improve the physical activity and nutrition of adults living in Hennepin County in HCBS Waiver funded group homes and day training and habilitation (DTH) settings. Hennepin County Public Health is the lead agency for this effort. Consultants from the Academy for Educational Development assisted Hennepin County to develop observational protocols to assess the food and physical activity environments in group homes and DTH settings, and to craft stakeholder interviews with foster care staff, DTH staff, disability advocates, and State and County aging and disability staff. The staff of the Institute's Research and Training Center on Community Living assist in developing interview protocols for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, conducting interviews and site visits, and in reviewing the data and preparing final project reports.
