Evaluation
The major goal of the Connecting to Success project is to develop
an e-mentoring model for youth with disabilities in transition using
two sites in Iowa and two sites in Minnesota. The purpose of the
evaluation is to assess the process of implementing Connecting to
Success and to determine its impact on students with disabilities.
Specific implementation goals include:
- Establishing a Connecting to Success planning committee with
representatives from each of the states, pilot sites, the National
Transition Network, and the Youth Trust.
- Developing and adapting the Connecting to Success model so that it incorporates the lessons learned from identified proven models and exemplary practices while addressing the special transition needs of youth with disabilities.
- Providing training, support, and technical assistance to state
and pilot site staff on the implementation of Connecting to Success.
Specific project outcomes include:
- Building motivation for academic learning
- Enhancing self-esteem
- Improving skills in writing, composition, social interaction,
and career readiness
- Integrating e-mentoring with achievement of transition/IEP goals
- Connecting youth to positive role models in the world of work who understand their special needs
Reporting Evaluation Results
An evaluation report will be developed and distributed to all targeted
audiences. The report will be designed to: (1) inform intended audiences
about Connecting to Success and what was learned from implementing
project activities, and (2) inform potential users interested in
replication and/or adaptation of Connecting to Success.
