National PTA (www.pta.org) National PTA is a not-for-profit organization of parents, educators, students, and other citizens active in their schools and communities. Their mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth, to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children and to encourage parent and public involvement in schools.

Resource Links

Women's College Coalition (www.academic.org) Parents - not peers or the media - have the strongest influence on their daughters' self-esteem and life choices. Research shows that girls and boys are more alike than different, especially prior to puberty. Until then, their physical developments are similar. Given the same kind and amount of practice, they would perform equally well at sports and other physical activities. Check out this website for what parents can do, facts about women and work, and more.

Parent Education Resources (www.parent-education.com) A parent site for those with young children - the kindergarten survival book, workshops, kindergarten questions and answers, and parenting links are all included here.

College Parents of America (www.collegeparents.org) The voice and resource for parents of current and future college students with a mission to empower parents through information on campus issues, tips, advice, and possible solutions to individual challenges. Includes activities, initiatives, advice, in the news, e-mail and more.

Dear Parents (www.riverdeep.net/for_parents/for_parents.jhtml) Sponsored by Edmark, Dear Parents shares a wealth of information on how children learn and how to help them learn. Includes subject areas such as reading and math, learning styles, gifted children, children with disabilities, educational software, kids on the internet, and more.

Parent's Journal (www.parentsjournal.org) Purpose is to inform parents about their children's education through information sharing. Most writers are parents and educators who try to present issues from both sides. Includes Letters to the Editor, Dear Dr. Dave, Educational Software Reviews, Book Reviews, and numerous articles by parents and educators regarding hot topics in education.
