National Center on Secondary Education
and Transition (www.ncset.org) The newly funded national center
on transition issues for youth with disabilities.
The School-to-Work Workforce
Development Clearinghouse (www.stwclearinghouse.org) This website
offers comprehensive, systematically organized information for all STW stakeholders.
Also, requests for additional school-to-work information may be posted on
the website bulletin board.
National Center on Educational
Outcomes (NCEO) (www.coled.umn.edu/nceo) The NCEO provides national
leadership in the identification of outcomes, indicators, and assessments
to monitor educational results for all students.
National Center for Research
in Vocational Education (NCRVE) (ncrve.berkeley.edu) The
nation's largest center for research and development in work-related education.
Includes full length reports, newsletters and digests, descriptions of programs
and projects, services and information, as well as links to other vocational
education resources.
National Service Learning
Cooperative Clearinghouse (www.servicelearning.org/) An adjunct to the ERIC Clearinghouse, this site provides information on searchable databases, listservs, learn and serve programs, information resources, and other national service sites.
National Occupational Information
Coordinating Committee (NOICC) (http://www.ed.gov/pubs/TeachersGuide/noicc.html) NOICC works with a network of federal agencies and State Occupational Information Coordinating Committees to promote the development of information and skills needed to make decisions about education and work. Includes Pro Shop (tools, professional development), hotlinks to state committees, organizations and agencies, excerpts from suggested sites, such as Workforce Magazine, and more.
MULTI-CULTURAL SERVICES (www.edcc.edu/equity/) A regional resource center focused on promoting gender equity and cultural diversity in education, business, and the community. Includes STW Mentoring Project Network, promoting Equity in STW Legislation, activities of the NW Center for Equity, instructional resources, and links.
Institute for Women in Trades,
Technology & Science (IWITTS) (www.serve.com/iwitts) Provides
training and technical assistance nationally to the education system. Includes
STW and gender equity through projects like the "Women and Girls in
Science, Engineering and Math: School-To-Work Project."
American Institute for Managing Diversity
(AIMD) (www.aimd.org) Advances the field of diversity and drives
the practice of managing diversity with the intent of shaping global policy
and expanding critical consciousness. Includes research, education, advocacy,
memberships, the diversity store, and resource center.
National Community Education Association
(NCEA) (www.ncea.com) Provides programs and services to community
education professionals and local volunteers, with emphasis on family and
community involvement. Includes background on NCEA, components of community
education, community schools, membership, publications, and more.
ERIC Digests (www.ericdigests.org/eric-digests.html)
Short reports on topics of prime current interest in education targeted
specifically to teachers, administrators, policy makers, and other practitioners,
and yet useful to the broad educational community.
Association for Career and Technical Education
(www.acteonline.org) A professional organization of 38,000 teachers,
counselors, school administrators, teacher educators, and business/industry
partners that carries our a diverse array of programs that advance vocational/technical
and school-to-careers education. Includes events, legislation, products,
what's new in school-to-careers, and how to join the AVA's School-to-Work
Partners.
National Center
for Workforce Preparation (www.fourhcouncil.edu/programs/main.asp?subid=30&catid=1) Sponsored by the National 4-H Council and the Cooperative Extension System. Supports the creation of workforce preparation initiatives throughout the country through coalition development, staff training, technical assistance , best practice sharing, and resources and curricula.
National Career Development Association
(ncda.org) Career development for the 21st century. Includes information
about NCDA, career resources store, on-line newsletter, the best on career
development, hot links to other career sites.
Regional Educational Laboratories
(www.nwrel.org/national) A non-profit organization dedicated to helping
schools and the students they serve to reach their full potential by connecting
principals, parents, teachers, community members, policymakers and students
to work together. Site includes links to all 10 regional laboratories.
Education
Alliance for Equity and Excellence (www.brown.edu/Research/The_Education_Alliance)
Based at Brown University and responds to the needs of diverse student
populations in the public schools by creating partnerships with educators,
policy makers, researches, and business and community agencies. Includes
leadership training, publications, conference sponsorship.
