STW Wizard Strategies

Strategy 1

I have an example of a "Service Learning Plan" from St. Peter High School. The following questions are included:

  • What needs does the service activity address: In the school/local community/global community?
  • Description of Project: Is the service activity Advocacy? Is it Direct/Indirect? Please explain.
  • Learner Outcome :(include what to be based on). Student will:
A)
B)
C)
D)
E)
  • Proposed steps for completion:
A) Overview of project
B) Connection to the curriculum
C) Action plan for service project
  • The Plan of Action: A separate worksheet containing a chart. How will the student be assessed? (Chart includes: Responsibility, Resources Needed, Type of Reflection,Target Date)

St. Peter High School has been involved in many service learning activities.

Strategy 2

Service-Learning is a teaching methodology by which the School-to-Work and Minnesota Graduation Standards can be met for the Profile of Learning. It is integrated into these two initiatives and not a stand alone class. I do have schools who are implementing service-learning into their curriculum who would be able to answer questions or provide examples. Please have the individual contact me either here or via phone (612) 297-2481 and I will gladly help them.
